Scholarship Guides

Practical guides, not generic advice

Everything we've learned from thousands of students winning real scholarships — matching, essays, deadlines, and staying safe from scams.

Spotting a scholarship scam

Every scholarship on ScholarSearch AI is reviewed before it's listed, but scams do circulate elsewhere online. Watch for these red flags on any award — here or anywhere else:

  • Asks you to pay an application fee, processing fee, or "guaranteed win" deposit.
  • Guarantees you'll win — legitimate scholarships never promise an outcome.
  • Pressures you to decide or pay immediately, or claims your spot expires in hours.
  • Asks for a Social Security number, bank account, or credit card number to "verify eligibility."
  • Has no verifiable sponsoring organization, physical address, or public track record of past winners.
