Privacy Policy

Last updated July 1, 2026

Never sold

We never sell your personal data or academic profile to third parties, advertisers, or data brokers.

Encrypted

Your data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access is limited to systems that need it to run the product.

You're in control

You can export or permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings.

1. What we collect

  • Account information you provide directly: name, email, and password (hashed, never stored in plain text).
  • Academic profile data you choose to enter: GPA, major, school, state, financial background, extracurriculars, and essay drafts — used solely to match you with scholarships and generate essay feedback.
  • Usage data: pages visited, matches viewed, and application status changes, used to improve matching accuracy and product reliability.
  • We do not collect Social Security numbers, financial account numbers, or government ID numbers. Never enter this information into any field on ScholarSearch AI.

2. How we use your data

  • To match you with scholarships you're eligible for, using your profile as model input.
  • To generate AI essay feedback based on the scholarship and draft you provide.
  • To send you deadline reminders and product updates you can opt out of at any time in Settings.
  • To maintain the security and integrity of the platform (fraud prevention, rate limiting, abuse detection).

3. FERPA & student data

  • ScholarSearch AI is built with FERPA's spirit in mind: your educational records are yours. We act only as a service you've directly chosen to use, not as a school-designated record custodian.
  • If your school or district has a separate agreement with us, that agreement's terms govern data handling for accounts provisioned through that school.

4. Third-party services

  • We use a small number of infrastructure providers to operate the product: a database provider (Supabase) for storage, an AI provider for match scoring and essay feedback, and an email provider (Resend) for transactional email.
  • These providers process data solely on our instructions under standard data-processing agreements. None of them may use your data for their own purposes.

5. Your rights

  • Access — request a copy of all data we hold about you.
  • Correction — update inaccurate profile data directly in Settings.
  • Deletion — permanently delete your account and all associated data from Settings, or by emailing us.
  • Portability — export your saved scholarships and application history as a file.

6. Data retention

  • We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we permanently remove your profile, saved scholarships, essays, and application history within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

7. Changes to this policy

  • This policy was last updated on July 1, 2026. If we make material changes, we'll notify you by email before they take effect.
