What is the match score?
The match score (0–100) is an AI estimate of how well your profile fits a given scholarship. It is not a prediction of whether you'll win — many factors outside your control (essay quality, competition, reviewer preferences) affect outcomes.
Score ranges
- 80–100 — Excellent fit. You meet most or all stated criteria, often with room to spare. These are your highest-priority applications.
- 60–79 — Good fit. You meet the core requirements but may be missing one or two preferred (not required) criteria. Strong applications here often succeed.
- 40–59 — Moderate fit. You're eligible, but competition may be higher. Worth applying if you have time and the award aligns with your goals.
- Below 40 — Not shown. Your profile is too far from the scholarship's stated requirements.
How to improve your scores
- Complete your profile — a partial profile leads to lower scores across the board
- Be specific in Activities and Background — "volunteered at a food bank every Saturday for two years" is much stronger than "volunteering"
- Update your GPA — if it has improved since your last match, re-enter it and run again
- Add more activities — each relevant activity is a potential match signal
Are scores recalculated automatically?
Yes. Every time you click Find My Scholarships, the AI recalculates your scores using your current profile. Update your profile, then run a new match to see the difference.
