Essay AI overview
The Essay AI assistant helps you at every stage of your scholarship writing — from blank page to final draft. Open it by clicking the pencil icon on any saved scholarship in your Application Tracker.
Brainstorm mode
Use when: You have the prompt but don't know what to write.
Brainstorm generates 4–6 concrete story ideas tailored to the scholarship prompt and your personal background. Each idea includes:
- A one-sentence angle you can build on
- Why this angle resonates with the prompt
- A specific moment or detail you can develop into a story
Tip: The more detail you add to your Background field in your profile, the more personal and distinctive your brainstorm ideas will be.
Improve mode
Use when: You have a draft and want to make it stronger.
Paste your draft and the AI returns:
- An improved version of the full essay
- A list of the most impactful changes made, and why each one strengthens your application
The AI preserves your authentic voice and story — it will never introduce facts you haven't mentioned.
Grammar mode
Use when: Your essay is nearly finished and needs a final polish.
The AI returns:
- A corrected version of your essay (grammar, spelling, punctuation, clarity)
- A detailed breakdown of every change, with the original phrase and the correction side by side
Tips for best results
- Always paste the scholarship essay prompt — the AI tailors its suggestions to the specific question being asked
- Include a word limit if one is specified
- Use Brainstorm first, write your draft, then run Improve and Grammar in sequence for the strongest results
